Dr. Agree is a clinical psychologist, licensed attorney, and certified personal coach. She uses her unrivaled understanding of attachment, mentalization and the unconscious to help adults, adolescents and couples overcome the full spectrum of emotional challenges and achieve their personal and professional goals.
I know, from my own experience, how therapy can change your life from something that just “happens” into something you design and execute on your terms. I also know that we relinquish vital elements of ourselves during childhood, which leads to a slew of negative symptoms – anxiety, depression, and much more. I love helping people recapture those lost parts of themselves, develop the strength to say “no,” and become a person they can be truly proud of.
Dr. Agree successfully combines Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) and other effective approaches to identify hidden patterns underlying negative experiences, and assist individuals in understanding and modifying these patterns to reduce emotional pain and harness their strengths.
Often sought out for her deep understanding of borderline and other personality issues, Dr. Agree treats many patients with features of these conditions, including abandonment depression, relationship difficulties and mood volatility. Individuals also seek her guidance in managing dysfunctional relationships, whether it be with a spouse, romantic partner, parent, sibling or child.
Dr. Agree is one of the only proficient practitioners of Mentalization-Based Treatment (MBT) in the country, with expertise in treating adults, adolescents, and parents. She is also one of few psychologists certified to assess reflective functioning (the ability to mentalize) on both the Adult Attachment Interview and the Parent Development Interview.
In addition to treating patients, she trains and supervises other professionals and doctoral students in MBT and attachment-based therapies.
Dr. Agree received her Masters and Doctorate degrees in clinical psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology. There, she received the Jill Benton Humanistic Psychology Scholarship for academic achievement and was also recognized by the National Honors Society.
Dr. Agree earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Wayne State University Law School. Prior to pursuing a career in psychology, she practiced business and real estate law for 13 years.
